One Platform to Understand and Manage Multiple Risks

For almost four years, the MYRIAD-EU consortium has been working to transform multi-hazard risk management in Europe, aiming to establish a shared set of multi-hazard concepts and indicators, consolidate existing methods, models, and tools, and evaluate policies and governance across local, national, and EU levels.

The MYRIAD-EU Dashboard is now available online.

Why the Dashboard Matters

The MYRIAD-EU Dashboard is a user-friendly platform that consolidates the project’s resources and guidance. It helps users anticipate cascading risks, explore multi-hazard scenarios, and plan proactive strategies.

Who Benefits and How

The Dashboard is designed for multiple audiences, with tailored benefits:

  • Governments and Public Agencies: Tested in five pilot regions, the Dashboard equips policymakers with practical tools and real-world case studies to design multi-hazard preparedness policies and disaster management plans across sectors.
  • Science and Research: Researchers gain access to a scientifically grounded, pilot-tested framework for analysing systemic risks across multiple hazards and sectors, enhancing the quality and relevance of multi-risk research.
  • Private Sector: Businesses can use the Dashboard to gain actionable insights, identify and mitigate systemic risks, and maintain continuity in the face of multi-hazard challenges.
  • Risk Planners: Practical tools, guidance, and tried-and-tested regional case studies help planners to develop actionable, forward-looking disaster risk management plans that account for evolving multi-risk scenarios.

Inside the Dashboard

Built on the MYRIAD-EU framework, the Dashboard guides users through six steps for systemic multi-risk analysis – from defining the system to evaluating risks and planning adaptive strategies. Step-by-step instructions tailored to different types of users, makes the dashboard a hands-on tool for everyday risk management and a lasting resource for adaptive disaster preparedness.

Key sections of MYRIAD-EU Dashboard include:

  • Assessment and Management: Users can explore the framework and multi-risk pathways, sequences of risk management interventions that addresses changing risks while revealing synergies, trade-offs, and adaptive solutions.
  • Pilots: Five European regions – Canary Islands, Veneto, Scandinavia, North Sea, and Danube – act as laboratories for testing and refining the framework. Each pilot offers region-specific examples of integrated disaster management. By exploring these cases, dashboard users can guide the adaptation of best practices to their local settings.
  • Resources: The Disaster Risk Gateway serves as a collaborative wiki of tools, platforms, and methods. The MYRIAD-EU Handbook offers a shared language and conceptual alignment for multi-risk analysis. Storylines and repositories visualize past and potential future events, helping political authorities, the private sector, and civil society understand interconnections, plan adaptations, and strengthen resilience in their region.

Driving Systemic Change

By uniting data, methodologies, and case studies, the MYRIAD-EU Dashboard enables smarter decisions, fosters collaboration, and transforms systemic risk management across Europe.
