Why Europe Needs a Multi-Hazard Approach to Disaster Risk Assessment: Join Our Roundtable

On October 15, MYRIAD-EU project will host a high-level policy roundtable to discuss why Europe needs a multi-hazard approach to disaster risk assessment. As MYRIAD-EU approaches its final stage, this gathering will be a unique opportunity to showcase the project’s achievements.

As part of the European Week of Regions and Cities 2025, themed “Shaping Tomorrow, Together,” this roundtable will highlight the critical role of regions in building a resilient and sustainable Europe. MYRIAD-EU offers a groundbreaking, multi-sector approach to disaster risk reduction, addressing interconnected risks from floods, wildfires, droughts, and heatwaves. In a time of escalating climate change impacts, the project empowers regional authorities with innovative tools, strategies, and policies tailored to local contexts.

Stakeholders and policymakers will explore how regions can lead cross-sector collaboration across energy, agriculture, finance, infrastructure, and more. Together, we will discuss how MYRIAD-EU is helping to shape a safer, more prepared Europe for the future. The roundtable, held in celebration of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, will bring together stakeholders, experts, and policymakers to chart the course for a resilient tomorrow, together.

The programme features contributions from the European Research Executive Agency, DG ECHO, and MYRIAD-EU partners, including presentations of our tools and applications, insights from the five regional Pilots—Danube, Scandinavia, North Sea, Veneto, and the Canary Islands—and reflections on the project’s policy, sectoral, and societal impacts. Interactive Q&A sessions and a closing policy discussion will provide opportunities to explore future pathways for disaster risk reduction in Europe.
